The existence of fluid density product (e.g., exudates) within the ideal middle lobe results lead to a wedge-shaped opacity in the right lower zone nearby to the heart. Note the exceptional border of the opacity is greatly demarcated at the level of the horizontal fissure.
Air Bronchograms
Air filled bronchi that are surrounded by alveolar infiltrates can look like radiolucent (i.e., dark) branching columns within the location of opacification.
Shape Indication
Combination of the ideal middle lobe results in effacement of the best heart border; the user interface in between the lung and heart is obscured. Note that the remarkable border of the ideal hemidiaphragm is plainly specified.
Normal/Increased Lung Volume
Unless there is corresponding atelectasis, there typically is no loss of lung volume.
Risks
Radiographic proof of pneumonia worsens during the first few days of treatment and can take a number of weeks to totally fix.
