Requirements of the Medication Technician
- Current CPR/First Aid accreditation a plus
- 6 hour Certification for Self-Administration of Medication
- Offer current TB or Xray within last 6-mos.
- Capability to be on his/her feet for extended periods
- Self-motivated with great communication and social abilities
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug-and background screening (level 2)
Obligations of the Medication Professional
- The Med Tech guarantees timely distribution of medication to all citizens by providing help with self-medication as recommended by healthcare provider.
- Provide care and assistance with the functions of everyday living
- Maintain residents’ health records/resident charts by timely recording any modifications in health, events, and observation of unusual occurrences
- Maintain Medication Observation Records
- Assist with self-administration of medication
- Respond rapidly to emergency situations
- Coordinate physician/hospital gos to
- Maintain privacy
- Communicate effectively with all personnel, residents and their households
