The IAEA assists its Member States in their efforts to establish reliable, evidence-based interventions to combat poor nutrition in all its kinds by nuclear methods. This publication was developed as an important part of the IAEAs efforts to add to the transfer of innovation and knowledge in the application of a widely utilized nuclear technique in nutrition, i.e. Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA). It provides information on the theoretical background in addition to the useful application of DXA to determine bone mineral density and to evaluate body structure.
